Thousands of Airbus workers in the United Kingdom are set to strike for 10 days starting in September over demands for better pay. The trade union Unite, which represents more than 3,000 aircraft fitters and engineers at Airbus, reported that 90% of its members voted in favor of industrial action in a recent ballot. The strike threatens to disrupt the production of aircraft wings and could bring the company's global aircraft manufacturing operations to a halt. The workers are seeking a pay offer that better reflects the rising cost of living. Airbus has yet to present an improved wage proposal to prevent the strike.
