The Blockchain Association has urged the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to adopt a gradual, incremental framework for crypto oversight under its new leadership, cautioning that overly restrictive rules could hinder innovation and the development of blockchain use cases. Anchorage Digital, during a May 2 meeting with the SEC Crypto Task Force, recommended separating crypto custody from exchange functions, permitting ETF staking, clarifying stablecoin reward mechanisms, and integrating Bitcoin into standard broker-dealer regulations. Ripple's Chief Legal Officer highlighted that the SEC dropped its appeal against Ripple in March 2025 and pointed to forthcoming smart crypto regulations aimed at consumer protection.
