Sex offences involving foreign nationals in the United Kingdom have risen sharply, according to a new analysis published by The Telegraph. Drawing on court conviction data, the paper reports a 62 % increase in such crimes over the past four years—more than 20 percentage points faster than the rise in offences committed by British nationals during the same period. The British Transport Police Authority separately warned of an “epidemic” of violence against women and girls on the rail network. It said violent crimes in that category are 59 % higher than in 2021, while sexual offences climbed a further 10 % in the most recent year. Police-recorded rape offences in England and Wales reached 71,667 in the 2024/25 fiscal year, up from 67,818 the year before and the highest total on record.
