California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office faced online criticism late 15 July after a four-photo collage intended to showcase the state included an image taken at Sand Harbor State Park on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. Several political commentators highlighted the mistake, noting that the site is managed by Nevada State Parks and sits outside California’s borders. The other three pictures used in the post were also dated—two were eight years old and one was 11 years old—prompting further ridicule over the office’s inability to find recent photographs from within the state. Newsom’s office has not publicly responded to the error or removed the post.
