During the 47th session of UNESCO's World Heritage Committee held in Paris, several updates were made to the World Heritage List concerning African and other global sites. Three sites in Africa, including one in Madagascar, as well as sites in Egypt and Libya, were removed from the List of World Heritage in Danger. Concurrently, new sites were inscribed on the World Heritage List, including the Diy-Gid-Biy Cultural Landscape of the Mandara Mountains in Cameroon, the Mount Mulanje Cultural Landscape in Malawi, and the Faya Palaeolandscape in the United Arab Emirates. UNESCO emphasized accelerating efforts to address Africa's previous underrepresentation on the World Heritage List, highlighting the importance of global cooperation in preserving shared heritage.
