Canada's Air Canada pension fund, managing approximately $22 billion in assets, has disclosed a $161 million allocation to Bitcoin, marking the first major Canadian pension fund to invest in the cryptocurrency. This allocation represents about 0.7% of the fund's assets under management. Additionally, the $216 billion Public Sector Pension Investment Board in Canada has also revealed its initial exposure to Bitcoin. Meanwhile, in the United States, the $208 billion New York State Common Retirement Fund increased its Bitcoin holdings by 143% in the second quarter of 2025. These moves reflect a growing trend among large pension funds to incorporate Bitcoin into their portfolios. Furthermore, Goldman Sachs, with $3 trillion in assets, has indicated that trillions of dollars are expected to flow into Bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency market, signaling increased institutional acceptance of digital assets.
