Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canada will eliminate all counter tariffs applied to U.S. goods covered by the U.S.–Mexico–Canada Agreement. The rollback, announced in Ottawa on Friday, reverses duties Canada imposed in response to earlier U.S. trade measures. Carney added that the removal will take effect on Sept. 1, 2025, and applies to every product category governed by the USMCA. The move is aimed at smoothing bilateral trade flows and lowering costs for Canadian importers and consumers ahead of the year-end shopping season.
