Canada’s Conservative Party has confirmed that veteran strategist Jenni Byrne will remain on the party payroll as an adviser to Leader Pierre Poilievre, quashing days of speculation that she would be dismissed after the party’s election defeat this spring. Party spokesperson Sarah Fischer said Byrne “is still an adviser to the Conservative Party of Canada and Pierre Poilievre.” Two people familiar with the arrangement added that Byrne is reducing her day-to-day presence on Parliament Hill but will continue to work through her Toronto-based firm, Jenni Byrne and Associates. Byrne managed the Conservatives’ 2025 campaign, which won 41 % of the popular vote yet failed to unseat Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberals. Some MPs and donors had urged Poilievre to overhaul his inner circle, blaming campaign strategy and candidate vetting for the loss. The decision leaves Poilievre facing continued questions about whether he can recalibrate the party ahead of an 18 August by-election in Alberta’s Battle River–Crowfoot riding and a grassroots leadership review set for January 2026.
