The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has completed its leadership slate for the 2025-26 fiscal year, electing a 55-member Board of Governors that includes ten re-elected incumbents and newcomers such as Focus Features chair Peter Kujawski (Executives Branch) and three-time Oscar-nominated composer Carter Burwell (Music Branch). In a parallel move, the board named Saudi director Haifaa al-Mansour, producer Effie T. Brown and technology executive Annie Chang as governors-at-large, each for a three-year term. With their addition, the board is now 55 percent women and 31 percent drawn from under-represented communities, the Academy said. Separately, the Academy confirmed that actor Tom Cruise will receive an honorary Oscar at the 16th annual Governors Awards on 15 November 2025, several months before the main Academy Awards ceremony. Singer-songwriter Dolly Parton, choreographer-director Debbie Allen and production designer Wynn Thomas will also be honored at the event.
