Rodrigo Galilea, senator and president of Chile's National Renewal (RN) party, provided an update on the presidential race and internal party matters during an appearance on CNN Prime. He affirmed that the candidacy of Evelyn Matthei remains stable despite unfavorable polling. Galilea emphasized party discipline in response to support from Carlos Larraín for José Antonio Kast, noting that the RN Supreme Tribunal has initiated proceedings against Larraín, Kusanovic, and Mellado, with sanctions to be determined by the tribunal. He mentioned that Kusanovic may consider resigning due to his disregard for party discipline. Galilea reiterated that parliamentary candidates are not supporting Kast and expressed pride in Matthei as the party's presidential candidate. Addressing criticism over Juan Sutil's involvement, he clarified that Sutil has not been considered a candidate and has been engaged in activities outside of business for some time. Galilea also commented on political and economic concentration risks, stating these are not exclusive to the right but also seen on the left. Regarding campaign financing, he noted that while Amarillos, UDI, and Evópoli reportedly did not contribute to Matthei's campaign, all parties have a commitment to funding. He responded to former president Eduardo Frei's statements, suggesting it would not be surprising if Frei votes for Matthei. Galilea expressed willingness to vote for any opposition candidate who advances, including Matthei, Kast, Kaiser, or Parisi, and called for dialogue among opposition sectors. He cautioned against taking legal action over alleged bot activity, describing it as generally unproductive. Galilea condemned remarks made by Nicolás Ibáñez as inappropriate and distasteful. On parliamentary elections, he indicated ongoing efforts to coordinate candidate pacts and said final talks are underway with the Demócratas party to join Matthei's candidacy.
