Arm Holdings, a subsidiary of SoftBank Group, is set to launch its own AI chips by 2025 as part of a strategic move to enter the AI chip market. The company plans to establish a dedicated AI chip division, which might be spun off, and aims to develop a prototype by spring 2025, with mass production expected to commence in the fall of the same year. This initiative is part of a larger ¥10 trillion (approximately $64 billion) investment by SoftBank to transform into an AI powerhouse. Arm is currently in negotiations with contract manufacturers, including TSMC, to handle the mass production of these chips.
