Authorities are intensifying their crackdown on illegal vape and cigarette sales across various regions. In Oakland Gardens, the Oakland Smoke Shop was shut down following complaints from residents and a coordinated effort with the Sheriff's Office. Similarly, Stockton town centre saw another shop closed for selling illegal cigarettes. The FDA and CBP announced the seizure of 53,700 unauthorized e-cigarette products, valued at over $1.08 million, in Chicago. These products, arriving from China, were mislabeled as other items. Additionally, more than 14,500 vapes were seized by a county's Trading Standards team over six months. The city is also closing illegal cannabis shops in East Midtown and Murray Hill, including locations on Lexington Avenue and 3rd Avenue. Senator Romney highlighted the ongoing availability of unauthorized e-cigarettes in kid-friendly flavors and called for the restoration of the premarket review process to prevent these products from reaching children.
