Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL), a leading Chinese battery manufacturer, reported a 33% increase in net income for the first quarter of 2025, reaching RMB 13.96 billion (approximately $1.9 billion). This growth marks the fastest profit growth for the company in nearly two years, despite a general slowdown in electric vehicle demand. Revenue for the quarter rose by 6.2% to RMB 84.7 billion. In its earnings briefing, CATL indicated that the tariffs imposed by the U.S. government have had minimal impact on its performance, attributing its resilience partly to a limited exposure to the U.S. market. Analysts noted that CATL's relatively small risk from U.S. trade policies contributed to its strong financial results.
