An extensive online fraud operation based in China has scammed over 850,000 individuals in Europe and the US by luring them with fake online shops touting designer goods. Victims were deceived into sharing their credit card details and personal data. The scam involved thousands of bogus domain names and resulted in substantial financial losses, including nearly €320,000 from Irish victims alone over a three-year period. The FBI has also issued warnings about related gift card fraud targeting retail companies.
