China Cabinet Orders Tougher Risk Checks and Water Security Measures

China’s State Council on Friday directed ministries and provincial authorities to intensify inspections of large-scale infrastructure and other vulnerable projects, saying hidden risks must be identified and eliminated to avert potential disasters. The cabinet also ordered local governments to prioritise water security, calling for guaranteed irrigation supplies for summer crops and stricter safeguards to ensure the safety of drinking water for urban and rural residents.
