In 2024, China intensified its crackdown on telecom fraud, prosecuting 78,000 individuals, marking a 53.9% increase from the previous year, according to a report from the Supreme People's Procuratorate. Additionally, Chinese courts resolved approximately 40,000 cases of telecom and online fraud, reflecting a year-on-year rise of 26.7%. The judiciary also reported a total of 30,000 concluded cases related to duty-related crimes, such as bribery and embezzlement, which is a 22.3% increase compared to 2023. These actions are part of broader efforts to enhance judicial protection of intellectual property rights and foster a law-based business environment as China seeks to transform and upgrade its development strategy.
