China's economy maintained robust momentum in the first half of 2025, with 13.278 million new business entities registered nationwide, according to data from the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR). This total includes 4.62 million companies and 8.629 million self-employed businesses. Among these, 4.35 million were private enterprises, marking a 4.6% year-on-year increase, while newly registered foreign-invested enterprises rose 4.1% to approximately 33,000. The cultural, sports, and entertainment sectors led growth in newly established companies, expanding by 17.5%. Officials from China's Ministry of Commerce highlighted strong growth potential in service consumption, emphasizing that boosting this sector will help expand domestic demand and employment. The steady expansion of private and foreign-invested enterprises reflects improving market expectations and reinforces China's position as a global investment hub.
