China's foreign trade in goods experienced a 3.5% year-on-year increase in the first seven months of 2025, reaching a total value of 25.7 trillion yuan ($3.58 trillion). This growth rate accelerated by 0.6 percentage points compared to the first half of the year. Trade with China’s top partners showed notable increases: total trade with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) rose 9.4% to 4.29 trillion yuan, accounting for 16.7% of China's total foreign trade, while trade with the European Union (EU) increased 3.9% to 3.35 trillion yuan, representing 13% of total foreign trade. These figures were reported by the General Administration of Customs (GAC) and reflect ongoing trade dynamics amid evolving tariff policies. Notably, tariffs imposed by the United States on Chinese goods, which peaked at 145%, have since been reduced to a range of 30% to 50%, while the EU’s peak tariffs of 20% have decreased to 15%. Similar tariff reductions have been observed in Vietnam and Indonesia.
