China has completed the first full rehearsal for the military parade and ceremony that will mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The overnight drill, held from late Saturday to early Sunday in and around Tian’anmen Square, involved about 22,000 participants, including parade contingents and logistical staff, according to the event’s media centre. Authorities imposed temporary traffic closures in central Beijing during the exercise, echoing the security measures expected for the official gathering on 3 September. The grand event will feature a large-scale military parade showcasing the People’s Liberation Army and is intended to highlight China’s wartime contribution and national defence capabilities. Separately, the PLA Air Force said it will stage aviation open-day activities and the Changchun Air Show in Jilin Province from 19 to 23 September, offering flight displays, static exhibits and themed presentations to the public.
