Chinese company Kaiwa Technology is developing the world's first humanoid pregnancy robot equipped with an artificial womb capable of carrying a human fetus to term and giving birth. The project, led by Dr. Zhang Qifeng in Guangzhou, aims to launch a prototype by 2026. The robot features a sealed artificial amniotic chamber that replaces the human uterus, allowing it to grow a fetus from conception to delivery. The estimated price for the prototype is approximately 100,000 yuan (around $13,900 to $14,000). This development comes amid a ban on surrogacy in China, with the technology potentially offering an alternative means of gestation. The pregnancy robot has attracted attention for its futuristic application of robotics and artificial womb technology in human reproduction.
