Moscow is experiencing an unprecedented heat wave, with temperatures reaching up to 35°C, marking the highest level in nearly 30 years and breaking a 30-year record. This surge represents an increase of up to 14°C compared to temperatures just two weeks prior. The heat wave is part of a broader pattern of extreme temperatures affecting European countries and parts of Russia, including southern regions. The abnormal heat has contributed to approximately 2,300 deaths. In addition to Moscow, other areas such as Mohe, the northernmost city in China's Heilongjiang Province, have also recorded unusually high temperatures around 35°C, a substantial rise from their typical averages. The heat wave has caused notable disruptions, including an elephant escape in China due to the intense heat approaching 40°C. Meteorologist Vladimir Vilfand has commented on the abnormal heat conditions in southern Russia. The ongoing heat wave continues to be a major weather event across Russia and neighboring regions.
