A construction accident occurred early on August 22, 2025, on the Jianzha Yellow River Bridge, part of the Sichuan–Qinghai Railway project in Qinghai province, China. During a tensioning operation, a steel cable snapped, causing a 108-meter section of the steel girder arch to collapse into the Yellow River. At the time of the incident, 16 workers were on site. The collapse resulted in the deaths of 12 workers, with four others reported missing. Rescue operations and investigations have been ongoing, with the Qinghai provincial government establishing an investigation team and China's Ministry of Emergency Management dispatching a work team to guide response efforts.
