Continuous heavy rainfall since August 7 in Yuzhong County and other areas of Northwest China's Gansu Province has triggered mountain flood disasters, resulting in at least 15 deaths, 28 missing persons, and 15 injuries as of the latest reports. The flooding has affected nearly 9,828 people, with rescue operations actively ongoing. Initial reports on August 8 indicated 10 deaths and 33 missing, but the figures have since been updated. Roads and communications were disrupted but have started to be restored. China's comprehensive fire and rescue force has deployed 560 personnel to assist in relief efforts. Notably, rescue teams saved an old dog buried in mud for over 30 hours amid the floods. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as rescue and recovery efforts proceed.
