UFC President Dana White observed a demonstration of Unitree Robotics’ G1 humanoid combat machines during a showcase in Shanghai on 28 August. One of the robots executed a round-house kick in White’s presence, underscoring its balance and agility—capabilities the Chinese start-up says are designed for controlled, full-contact bouts. The same G1 units appeared in May at the Mecha Fighting Series held during the World Robot Competition in Hangzhou, where they competed against other autonomous and remotely operated fighters. Unitree, known for its quadruped robots, is positioning the G1 line for entertainment and sports applications as interest in robot combat events grows globally. Neither the UFC nor Unitree disclosed plans for formal collaboration, but White’s visit signals the mixed-martial-arts promoter’s willingness to explore robotics as a potential extension of its combat-sports portfolio.
