The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative said it is extending a set of exclusions from the Section 301 tariffs on Chinese imports, pushing their expiration to 29 November 2025. The carve-outs, which were due to lapse at the end of August, cover a range of products that U.S. companies have argued are hard to source outside China or are needed to support domestic manufacturing. The decision preserves tariff relief for importers while the Biden administration continues its broader review of trade measures against Beijing. The USTR said earlier this year it would evaluate whether any of the nearly 1,000 exclusions still serve the public interest, indicating further adjustments are possible once the review concludes.
