The Washington Post is investigating a cybersecurity breach that compromised the email accounts of several of its journalists, according to an internal memo and people familiar with the matter. The intrusion was detected on 12 June, prompting the newspaper to reset login credentials for all employees the following day as a precaution. Reporters who cover national security and China were among those affected, and the attackers are believed to have accessed Microsoft 365 work email accounts. Company officials told affected staffers that the hack appeared to be a targeted operation and may have been orchestrated by a foreign government. The Post is continuing to assess the scope of the breach and has not yet identified a culprit.
