Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged officials to intensify implementation of the Communist Party’s eight-point decision on improving conduct, calling for “persistent efforts and long-term mechanisms” to curb bureaucracy and official extravagance. The instruction was delivered to a Party-building meeting held in Beijing on Friday. Adopted in December 2012, the eight-point decision sets concise rules for research tours, meetings, documentation and other official duties, aiming to rein in privileges and lavish banquets. Xi said deepening the guidelines is essential to consolidating gains in the Party’s drive to improve governance and maintain close ties with the public.
