Authorities in Colombia have intensified actions against Venezuelan criminal groups and individuals linked to organized crime. Colombian officials detained three Venezuelan nationals affiliated with the Tren del Llano, who were wanted under Interpol red notices. Additionally, two alleged cells of the Tren de Aragua criminal organization were dismantled in Colombia. The Colombian government has initiated extradition procedures against Carlos Ramón González from Nicaragua; González faces a warrant issued on July 3 for his alleged involvement in the misappropriation of resources from the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD). Separately, Alberto Carlos Mejía Hernández, known as a hitman for the so-called "Rey de Meiggs," was arrested in Colombia, with the National Prosecutor's Office confirming a request for his extradition. On the Venezuela side, the NGO Justicia, Encuentro y Perdón (JEP) called for urgent protection of journalist and political activist Carlos Julio Rojas, detained since 2024 and held in El Helicoide prison. The Venezuelan human rights group Provea filed a legal action to protect lawyer Eduardo Torres, citing ongoing violations of due process and defense rights. Political groups such as Voluntad Popular and Vente Venezuela have demanded information on detainees including José Riera, held for around 20 days, and have raised concerns about the deteriorating health of imprisoned journalist Víctor Ugas. Reports also indicate the detention of union leader Roberto Campero in Aragua under reportedly violent circumstances. Furthermore, five Colombians remain detained in Venezuela, four of whom are signatories of the peace agreement. Intelligence reports reveal an alliance involving the Cartel of the Suns, the ELN guerrilla group, Hezbollah, and Iran operating along the Colombia-Venezuela border. In Chile, preventive detention was ordered for four individuals linked to the kidnapping of a businessman in Quilicura.
