Acuity Brands reported stronger-than-expected fiscal third-quarter results, lifted by double-digit sales growth across its Lighting and Intelligent Spaces divisions. Revenue rose roughly 22% from a year earlier to about $1.18 billion, topping analysts’ estimates by about $30 million. Adjusted operating profit climbed 33% to $222 million and adjusted earnings reached $5.12 a share, up from $4.15 a year ago and $0.68 ahead of consensus forecasts. On a GAAP basis, operating profit slipped 4% to $140 million, and special charges held net income to $98.4 million. The better-than-expected quarter sent Acuity shares up approximately 8.5% in pre-market trading on Thursday.
