A series of large Ethereum (ETH) transactions and acquisitions have been observed involving multiple whales and institutional buyers throughout August 2025. An early ETH ICO participant initially acquired 100,000 ETH for $31,100 and currently holds 58,000 ETH valued at approximately $247.9 million across various wallets. One whale purchased 49,533 ETH worth $211.5 million in a single day, bringing its total holdings to $950 million. Another mysterious whale has created multiple new wallets over eight days, accumulating 312,052 ETH valued at $1.34 billion, with additional recent purchases including 21,000 ETH ($90.6 million) and 33,402 ETH ($158 million). A fresh wallet withdrew 60,000 ETH (approximately $285 million) from Coinbase Prime and began staking it. Meanwhile, one whale sold 20,600 ETH for $96.55 million, realizing a profit of over $26 million after holding since nine months prior. Another whale sold 9,109.6 ETH for nearly $41.16 million, nearly doubling its investment. A newly created wallet withdrew 53,434 ETH worth $244 million from Kraken in two days. Sharplink Gaming made a substantial purchase of $603.5 million worth of Ethereum and now holds 728,804 ETH in total, according to its Q2 2025 report. Despite this accumulation, Sharplink Gaming’s stock declined following a $103 million net loss in its Ethereum treasury for Q2 and a drop in ETH price below $4,400. Additionally, over 10 million ETH, valued at more than $45 billion, is currently locked up in staking entities and ETFs, reducing market circulation. On August 16, 2025, former U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly purchased 1,911 ETH for $8.6 million and 84.5 Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) for $10 million. Another institution created three new wallets and withdrew 92,899 ETH worth $412 million from Kraken over four days, signaling continued strong institutional interest in Ethereum amid market dips.
