Cloud-software vendors Snowflake Inc. and CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. delivered stronger-than-expected fiscal second-quarter results on Wednesday, but diverged sharply in their outlooks and after-hours share-price reactions. Snowflake’s product revenue rose 32% year over year to $1.09 billion for the quarter ended 31 July, lifting total sales to $1.14 billion and driving adjusted earnings to $0.35 a share, eight cents above analysts’ estimates. The data-analytics provider raised its full-year product-revenue forecast to about $4.40 billion, up from $4.33 billion, and guided third-quarter product sales to as much as $1.13 billion. Remaining performance obligations climbed 33% to $6.9 billion. The upbeat numbers and guidance sent the stock up roughly 11%–14% in late trading. Cyber-security specialist CrowdStrike also beat consensus with second-quarter revenue of $1.17 billion, up 21%, and adjusted earnings of $0.93 a share, a dime ahead of expectations. Net new annual recurring revenue reached a record $221 million, pushing total ARR to $4.66 billion. However, the company projected third-quarter revenue of $1.21 billion to $1.22 billion, fractionally below Wall Street’s $1.23 billion view, while lifting its full-year EPS target to $3.60-$3.72. The cautious sales outlook overshadowed the beat, and shares fell around 7% after the close. The split reaction underscores investors’ current preference for revenue acceleration and guidance upgrades in the software sector, with Snowflake’s AI-driven demand narrative resonating while CrowdStrike works to restore growth momentum following last year’s widespread Windows outage.
