Consensys, a prominent Ethereum blockchain supporter, has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in Texas federal court. The lawsuit seeks a declaratory judgment that Ethereum ($ETH) is not a security, and challenges the SEC's attempts to classify it as such. Consensys is also seeking a ruling that its MetaMask wallet is not a broker dealer and that the SEC should not interfere with Ethereum developers. This legal action, the fourth against the agency this month, follows the SEC's issuance of a Wells notice alleging that MetaMask is operating as an unlicensed broker dealer.
