FBI and FLHSMV Warn of Romance, Job Scams Using Fake U.S. Official Messages; FTC and SEC Issue Alerts

Federal and local authorities have issued multiple warnings regarding ongoing scams involving fake messages and fraudulent communications impersonating U.S. officials and organizations. The FBI and the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) department have alerted the public about scams circulating through text messages, including fake job offers, romance scams, and fraudulent claims demanding money. These scams often use fake websites with false testimonials to lure victims, and artificial intelligence is reportedly being used to enhance deceptive job offers via platforms like WhatsApp. Authorities advise individuals to be cautious of unsolicited messages, especially those requesting money or personal information, and to verify the legitimacy of any offers or communications before responding. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) have also emphasized the importance of vigilance against relationship investment scams and other frauds. The public is encouraged to report any suspected scams to the appropriate agencies.
