The sentencing took place in a California federal court, where Kamon was held accountable for both his own embezzlement and for enabling the firm’s leader, Tom Girardi, in defrauding clients. Separately, a former president of a fraternity housing board at the University of Arizona has been convicted of stealing $500,000 from the fraternity, marking a significant legal outcome in a years-long fraud investigation.
