James Yokeley, a North Carolina election official, has resigned following his arrest for allegedly placing illicit drugs, including cocaine and MDMA, into ice cream consumed by his granddaughters. Wilmington Police obtained video footage showing Yokeley putting the pills into the frozen treats. Authorities reported that Yokeley told an officer his granddaughters had found two pills in their ice cream. The incident has drawn attention due to Yokeley's role as a GOP election official and the nature of the alleged offense involving children.
