The Los Angeles Police Department has initiated a special task force aimed at combating an increase in burglaries and organized retail theft. This task force is specifically targeting organized groups, including foreign gangs and Latin American gangs, that have been involved in a series of high-end residential burglaries and thefts from luxury retailers. The criminal activities have led to the theft of goods often ending up for sale online or commingled on store shelves with legitimate items. In a recent crackdown, three individuals have been charged for allegedly stealing $310,000 in merchandise from luxury retailers in California.
