Federal authorities have arrested Blademir Angulo Audeves, owner of the Phoenix-based taco shop El Taco Loco, on charges of employing and harboring illegal immigrants. The arrest is part of a broader crackdown by the Trump administration targeting businesses that hire undocumented workers. Angulo Audeves, reportedly an undocumented immigrant himself, is accused of knowingly hiring a dozen illegal immigrants at his establishment. The investigation involved coordinated raids by federal agents and is linked to allegations of human smuggling and harboring migrants illegally in the U.S. Additionally, the crackdown has expanded to multiple Arizona restaurants, including a northern Arizona BBQ chain, where federal agents conducted raids related to money laundering, labor exploitation, and human smuggling. Over 20 arrests were made in connection with these investigations, including four individuals suspected of money laundering. The enforcement actions signal a tougher stance on employers who hire undocumented workers and are part of ongoing efforts to reduce illegal immigration by cutting off employment opportunities.
