On April 22, Ripple Labs formally opposed the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) request for a New York judge to impose a nearly $2 billion fine on the company. The SEC's demand includes $876.3 million in disgorgement and $198.2 million in other penalties, totaling $1.95 billion. Ripple, arguing against what it calls 'ongoing intimidation' by the SEC, has countered with a proposal for a maximum of $10 million in civil penalties.
