Student Injured Shielding Classmate in Minneapolis Catholic School Shooting

A shooting inside Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, disrupted a Catholic Mass on Wednesday, 27 August. Fifth-grade student Weston Halsne told local media outlets that a classmate, identified only as Victor, lay on top of him when gunfire erupted, absorbing a bullet to shield him. Halsne said Victor was struck in the back and transported to hospital. Authorities have not yet released an official casualty count or information about the suspect. Police have cordoned off the campus and are interviewing students and staff. Parents were directed to a reunification center nearby.
