The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected an appeal from disgraced lawyer and Donald Trump antagonist Michael Avenatti, leaving in place his criminal convictions related to attempts to extort sportswear giant Nike. Avenatti, who is currently imprisoned, had sought to overturn his conviction for trying to extort up to $25 million from Nike. The court's decision maintains the ruling that Avenatti attempted to defraud a client and extort the company for more than $20 million. Notably, Justice Kavanaugh did not participate in the decision.
