Base Hits 2.1M Transactions in a Day, Costs Under a Cent, Post-Ethereum Upgrade

Following Ethereum's recent Dencun upgrade, the Coinbase Ethereum layer-2 network, Base, has seen a significant surge in daily transactions, reaching a record 2,115,080 on March 16, a substantial increase from the 440,000 transactions per day it was processing before the upgrade. This milestone highlights the growing acceptance and efficiency of layer-2 solutions in addressing Ethereum's scalability challenges. Users have reported a notably improved user experience (UX) with layer-2 networks like Arbitrum One and Base, especially when using wallets such as Rabby and Rainbow. Transactions on these networks are not only almost free, costing less than a cent, but also fast, taking approximately 4 seconds. The ease of transactions and the absence of the need to switch networks have been particularly praised. This shift towards layer-2 networks is further supported by the increasing total value locked (TVL) in Base, indicating a broader migration of users seeking better transaction experiences. Additionally, Base's Total Distinct Addresses have reached 67,790,726 with a daily increase of 833k, and the Total verified contracts have hit a local all-time high of 672.
