Optimism has launched Alt-DA Mode in beta for the OP Stack, allowing any Data Availability (DA) layer to build their own DA server and integrate it into the OP Stack. This new feature, formerly known as 'Plasma Mode,' offers developers cheap transactions and flexibility. Three popular decentralized DA layers, including Celestia, EigenDA, and AvailProject, have already launched with Alt-DA Mode. Additionally, Redstone has contributed to the codebase enabling this feature across the Superchain. The EigenDA team highlighted their support for the new interface, emphasizing its industry-leading throughput, restaked Ethereum security, and cost efficiency. Production OP Stack chains and new OP Stack L2s/L3s can now choose from multiple DA layers for posting transaction batches.
