U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren, Bill Cassidy, and Thom Tillis have intensified their efforts against the use of cryptocurrencies in the trade of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). In a series of letters addressed to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the senators have called for enhanced measures to address this issue. They cited a report by Chainalysis, which indicates a rise in cryptocurrency-based transactions related to CSAM. Senator Warren described cryptocurrency as the 'payment of choice' for such illegal activities in her letter to the DOJ and has requested Attorney General Merrick Garland and Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to provide additional tools to combat this illicit trade.
