The Winklevoss twins, Cameron and Tyler, founders of the Gemini exchange, have made a significant investment into Real Bedford FC, a Spartan South Midlands League soccer club. They have invested $4.5 million (£3.6m) worth of Bitcoin, becoming co-owners with Peter McCormack. This investment, the largest ever made into a football club in the UK outside of professional leagues, marks Real Bedford as the first-ever football club powered by Bitcoin. A portion of the funds will be allocated towards establishing a Bitcoin treasury for the team, developing a new training center, and more. Club Captain and top goal scorer have highlighted that this investment is a game changer for the town of Bedford. The Winklevoss twins believe that Bitcoin will supercharge the club to the English Premier League.
