Botanix Labs has officially launched the mainnet of its Bitcoin Layer-2 blockchain, aiming to enhance decentralized finance (DeFi) capabilities on the Bitcoin network. The platform is EVM-compatible and secures bridged BTC through a multi-signature validator network called Spiderchain. Since its testnet debut in December 2024, Botanix has integrated applications such as GMX and Dolomite and partnered with ecosystem leaders including Chainlink, Fireblocks, Alchemy, Antpool, and Galaxy. Chainlink plays a critical role by providing its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) for secure cross-chain messaging and programmable token transfers, alongside Data Feeds and Data Streams for low-latency data delivery. Botanix's mainnet supports functionalities like trading, lending, borrowing, staking, and leverage, positioning it as a notable Bitcoin Layer-2 solution for the evolving Bitcoin economy. Meanwhile, another Bitcoin Layer-2 project, Build on Bob, has launched its testnet ahead of a planned mainnet release in the fourth quarter of 2025, with support from various operators including UTXOmgmt.
