Florida’s economy has been rated the strongest in the United States for the third straight year, according to CNBC’s 2025 America’s Top States for Business survey released on 14 July. The Sunshine State also climbed two places to No. 3 overall in the network’s composite business climate index, trailing only North Carolina and Texas. CNBC assessed 135 metrics across ten categories. Florida earned 1,588 of a possible 2,500 points, scoring highest in economy, workforce and access to capital while finishing 48th in cost of living, a weakness analysts linked to an insurance crunch and rapid population growth. North Carolina topped the list with 1,614 points; Texas was second with 1,601. Governor Ron DeSantis’s office highlighted the ranking, pointing to nearly a 50 per cent reduction in outstanding state debt since 2019 and budget reserves now exceeding $15.7 billion. Florida’s tax structure continues to rely on the absence of a state income tax, and officials say they are reviewing property-tax relief options to maintain competitiveness.
