A massive breach in electronic court systems has exposed confidential records across multiple jurisdictions, including Florida and California. The vulnerabilities revealed sensitive information such as medical records from child abuse victims and testimony from confidential police informants. The breach, which affected more than 48 state and local systems, also exposed psychiatric records and other sealed documents through unsecured websites. Security flaws in the court systems not only allowed for the review of these confidential documents but also posed risks of enabling hackers to bring fake criminal cases.
