
Meta has announced it will shut down Workplace, its enterprise communications tool, by September 2025, transitioning to a read-only mode until May 2026, and fully discontinuing by June 2026. The decision to discontinue Workplace, which was once seen as a competitor to Slack and other productivity tools, is part of Meta's strategic shift towards focusing on AI and metaverse technologies. Meta has recommended Zoom's Workvivo as the preferred alternative for Workplace users. The Workplace platform, which had an estimated annual recurring revenue of over $150 million, will see its customers transition to Workvivo, Zoom's employee engagement platform.
