The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has charged BF Borgers CPA PC and its owner, Benjamin Borgers, with committing 'massive fraud' in more than 1,500 SEC filings, resulting in civil penalties of $14 million. The firm, which served as the auditor for Trump Media, has been accused of deliberate and systemic failures to comply with auditing standards. As a result, the SEC has permanently barred the firm from conducting audits for public companies. This action highlights one of the largest wholesale failures by gatekeepers in the financial markets. Notably, Trump Media is not implicated in the charges.
