U.S. stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average marking its longest losing streak since April. The decline was triggered by a higher-than-expected Producer Price Index (PPI) inflation rate, which rose 0.4% in November, surpassing consensus estimates of 0.2%. The S&P 500 fell 0.54% to 6,051.25, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.53% to 43,914.12, and the Nasdaq Composite retreated 0.66% to 19,902.84. Tech stocks, including Nvidia, which lost more than 1%, and Adobe, whose shares plunged nearly 14% after issuing a weak revenue outlook, weighed on the market. Tesla shares also dropped 1.5%, while Alphabet, Meta, and Amazon ended lower. Bond yields edged up, with the 10-year Treasury yield increasing six basis points to 4.332%. Despite the inflation data, expectations for a Federal Reserve rate cut at the upcoming meeting remain high, although the outlook for further easing in January and beyond is less certain. Jobless claims increased to 242,000, the highest level since early October.
